NOTICE OF EVENTS – DECEMBER 2008
The general theme
for the month relates to ‘Ancient & Modern - Under and Over’ and includes
Presentations and discussion on rock tunnelling for the tombs in the Valley
of the Kings in Egypt - visited by the PCE UAE Chair when in Egypt for the
ICE, IMechE (and IET) supported convention for the Middle East and Africa - and the operations and maintenance of a modern
airport using O’Hare in Chicago USA as an example..
These topics follow
the November presentations on Project Management and the visit to the site
offices of the Supervision Committee of the Abu Dhabi International Airport
(SCADIA) and b and briefing by the Program Director the second runway opened in November and a
new central terminal. Being developed..
It is hoped that
our PCE UAE 2009 PROGRAMME will include an update on the new Dubai World international
airport with its three runways kilometres apart and the related rapid transport
systems. Members are invited to suggest
topics, speakers, visits and other events for 2009. via the HonSec.
