PCE UAE International Group aims to support the Engineering Profession and welcomes all UAE based UK Engineering Council (EC) Qualified Registrants ie: Chartered Engineers (CEng), Incorporated Engineers (IEng) and Engineering Technicians (EngT) plus all other members of the 36 EC licensed Professional Engineering Institutions (PEI) who have agreed to support the Group plus potential members.

PERSONAL SKILLS – ‘Time Management’

TOPIC OUTLINE

The EC Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC) refers to personal skills. PCE UAE sought feedback from members against 80 potential topics for events. Over 90% of those attending meetings in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in January completed the forms.  The results ranged from Project and Construction Management to detailed structural design and included topics such as Management Delegation and Time Management. Later, members at the PRP meeting selected Management Delegation and the videos were shown.  It was then decided to present the seminar ‘Time Management’ as the main Topic for March.  The Video pack is one of eight in the Sunday Times ‘Business Skills’ Series, Prepared in Association with Texaco.  The Chair has offered to make this available. It has seven Parts in two Videos ie:

1.        Time Management – what is it?    2. Identify the goal and know the game plan 3. Good time management tips

4      Performing under pressure   5. Time management and other people 6. Case studies 7. Personal action planning

The first three parts illustrated action in a small company.  The other four relate to a discussion by leading businessmen followed by three specific illustrated case studies.  The full seminar would warrant over 200 minutes but will be trimmed to about an hour. The other packs in the series include ‘Leadership-The Art of Management Motivation’, ‘Successful Presentations’, Quality – Achieving Excellence’.
